Old York Road Raiders Learn To Play Hockey Program
Where– The Rink at Old York Road
When– Sunday nights 5:30-6:30pm
Begins 11/6 through the end of March
Also included free skating lessons on Saturdays in October. 10:40-11:40AM. (5 sessions $100.00 value)
Used hockey equipment will be provided to those that need it.
Staff-Raiders Hockey Club coaches and members. All USA hockey certified.
Through this program your child will gain a love for the great game of hockey and build lasting friendships. The Raiders Hockey Club Learn To Play program places an emphasis on developing the skating fundamentals required to play hockey and puck skills such as stick handling, passing, and shooting all in a fun environment.
The Learn to Play program is for the beginner youth player or for the youth player who wants to improve their game through learning individual skills needed to play hockey. Most clubs offer 6-week sessions. With the Raiders program you get up to 20 sessions plus 5 skating lessons for the same price.
Sessions feature skill development stations and cross-ice games. Our goal is to improve a players individual skills and game knowledge which would enable the player to continue to play in our Raiders travel program.
Skating: Forward and Backward stride, proper use of edges
Stick Handling: Basic Puck Control
Passing: Passing form; stationary and moving
Team Play: Small area groups
The focus of the Cross Ice Games is having fun and learning the game of hockey. No score or standings are kept. Players will be put in groups based on age and level at the Coaches discretion.
HECC approved hockey helmet with cage
Gently used equipment will be provided to those that need it.
